Privacy Policy

  • “The Company to which you are submitting your application among the companies that use this website to hire permanent employees and interns” (hereinafter, referred to as ‘the Company', view a list) values your personal information and strives to comply with 「Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection」 and 「Personal Information Protection Act」.
  • The Company informs you of the purpose and manner in which the personal information users provide is being used and what measures are being taken to protect privacy of users through the privacy policy.
  • “Personal Information”, information about living individuals, refers to information that can identify an individual by his/her name and resident ID contained in the information (although the given information alone cannot identify a specific individual, it contains information that can be easily combined with other information to identify an individual).
  • The Company provides a direct link to this privacy policy on the front page of the official Samsung Careers website (http://www.samsungcareers.com) for users to view the privacy policy easily at any time.
  • The Company has set the necessary procedures to revise the privacy policy for continuous improvement. When revising the privacy policy, a version number is given to identify revisions made easily.
  • This policy is effective as of 2 January 2024. When revisions are made to this policy, the Company will notify you of the revision made through a notification on the website (or in writing, email, telephone, or SMS to each user individually).

The Company's privacy policy contains the following contents:

1. Items of Personal Information Collected and How to Collect Them

(1) Personal information to be collected

You can access the contents of this website freely without a separate signing up.
However, the Company collects some users' personal information through member sign-up when accessing content provided to members only.

  • The Company collects the following personal information from users when they sign up for the first time:

※ The Company does not collect personal information if the user is under 14.
When collecting personal information of users under 14 is inevitable to use the service, the Company will obtain consent from their legal representative in advance, destroy the information immediately as soon as its purpose is served, and strictly manage personal information for the duration of use.

(2) How to collect personal information

The Company collects personal information through a member sign-up and filling out the application form on the website (www.samsungcareers.com).

※ The Company has a procedure for users to choose either “I agree” or “I disagree” for each part of the personal information collection and usage agreement of the Company.

2. Purpose of Personal Information Collection and Use

  • The Company uses the collected personal information for the following purposes:

3. Sharing and Provision of Collected Personal Information (Disclosure to Third Parties)

(1) For a member sign up

The Company will not provide members’ personal information to third parties. If such a need arises, the Company will notify members and obtain their consent in advance.
However, exceptions are made when there is a request from the investigation agency according to the provisions of laws and regulations or as per procedures and methods stipulated in the laws and regulations for the purpose of investigation.

(2) For application submission of permanent and internship positions

The Company provides personal information as follows only when obtaining consent from the users:

  • When changing the companies above or providing or sharing personal information of users other than what is listed above, the Company needs to go through with a procedure of obtaining separate user consent for this.

4. Outsourcing of Personal Information Handling

  • The Company outsources the handling of personal information to fulfill the service as follows:
    Personal information handling is outsourced per each service only when it is necessary to implement the service.
  • When outsourcing the handling of personal information, the Company clearly stipulates strict adherence to privacy-related instructions, the confidentiality of personal information, prohibition of disclosure to third parties, liability for infringement, outsourcing period, return or destruction of personal information after outsourcing period, and supervises the outsourcing company to handling personal information safely to protect personal information securely.
    When the outsourced company and contents of outsourced work are changed, the Company shall notify you via website notification (or individual notification in writing, email, telephone, SMS, etc.).

5. Retention and Use Period of Collected Personal Information

  • After the purpose of collecting and using personal information is accomplished, the Company will delete the relevant information without delay.
    Detailed retention period for each collected item: 1.(1) Please refer to the table section of the collected personal information.
    However, the exceptions are as follows:

    - When it is necessary to preserve per provisions of the relevant laws and regulations, the Company separately stores member information for a certain period set by the relevant laws and regulations.

- It is stored until users request to delete only when they agree to the talent pool registration to check eligibility for the Company’s job openings.

6. Standards on Additional Use and Provision of Personal Information

The Company may additionally use or provide personal information without the consent of the user in accordance with Articles 15.3 and 17.4 of the Personal Information Protection Act, and Article 14-2 of the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act.

Accordingly, the Company assesses the following factors when considering the additional use or provision of personal information without the user’s consent:

  • Whether the purpose of the additional use or provision of personal information is related to the initial purpose of the collection of personal information
  • Whether the additional use or provision of personal information is foreseeable in light of the circumstances surrounding the collection of personal information and general processing practices
  • Whether the additional use or provision of personal information unfairly infringes on the interests of the user
  • Whether security measures such as pseudonymization or encryption have been taken

7. Procedures and Methods for the Destruction of Personal Information

The procedures and methods for the destruction of personal information are as follows:

((1) Destruction procedure

After the purpose of collecting and using personal information is accomplished, the Company will delete the relevant information without delay.
However, when it is necessary to preserve per provisions of relevant laws and regulations, it is stored separately for a certain period before destruction.
In such cases, separately stored personal information shall not be used for any other purposes other than those retained by laws.

(2) Destruction method

Personal information printed on paper is shredded by a shredder or destroyed by incineration, while personal information stored in electronic file format is deleted using technical means that cannot regenerate the record.

8. Rights of Users and Their Legal Representatives and How to Exercise the Rights

  • Users and their legal representatives can request to view/edit or delete/suspend handling/withdraw consent to registered personal information of oneself or a child under 14 at any time.
  • Click on ‘Edit member information’ and ‘Edit my application' to view or edit the personal information of users or children under 14, and click on ‘Close account’ to permanently close your account (withdraw consent). You can view, edit, or close your account after the self-authentication procedure.
  • Or, you may contact the CPO (view) by writing, phone, or email for us to take action immediately.
  • The Company may refuse to view/edit/delete all or part of personal information in the following cases:
    • - When the application submission period has ended (You can view or delete it but cannot edit it.)
    • - When viewing is prohibited or restricted by law
    • - When there is a risk of harming life or body of another person or when there is a risk of unfair infringement on the property and other interests of others
  • When users request to correct errors in personal information, the personal information will not be used or provided to third parties until necessary corrections are made to the personal information.
  • When incorrect personal information has already been provided to a third party, the Company shall notify the third party without delay to make the correction.
  • The Company shall handle personal information canceled or deleted at the request of a user or a legal representative as specified in “5. Retention and Use Period of Collected Personal Information” and handle it so that it cannot be viewed or used for any other purposes.
  • Please enter the up-to-date personal information of a user accurately. Users are liable for any accidents caused by inaccurate information entered by themselves. They may be forfeited of their website account when entering false information such as theft of other’s information.
  • Along with the rights to be protected of privacy, users are also obliged to protect themselves and not to infringe on information of others.
    You should be careful not to leak your personal information including your password and also not to damage personal information of others including their postings.
    When you fail to fulfill these responsibilities and damage the information and dignity of others, you may be penalized per 「Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection」.

9. Matters Concerning the Installation, Operation, and Refusal of Automatic Personal Information Collection Device

  • The Company installs and operates a device that automatically collects personal information, such as ‘cookies’ that frequently store and detect user information.
    A cookie is a text file of very small size sent to your browser by a server used to operate the Company’s website, which is stored on the user’s computer hard disk.
    The Company uses cookies to provide personalized services by analyzing the access frequency and visit time of members and non-members and identifying the number of their visits.
  • Users can choose whether or not to install cookies.
    By setting the options of your web browser, you can either accept all cookies, check each time a cookie is saved, or refuse to save all cookies.
    However, some services requiring login may not be available when you refuse to save cookies.

11. Other Policies on Personal Information Handling

(1) Technical and administrative measures for the protection of personal information

The Company uses the following technical and administrative measures to ensure the safety of personal information from loss, theft, leakage, alteration, or damage when handling users’ personal information.

  • Establishment and implementation of internal management plan
    • - The Company establishes and implements an internal management plan to handle personal information safely.
    • - The Company checks the implementation of privacy protection measures and compliance of the person in charge via an in-house organization dedicated to personal information protection and immediately takes action when a problem is detected.
  • Installation and operation of access control systems

    - The Company uses a firewall to control unauthorized access from the outside and tries to equip all possible technical measures to secure system security.

  • Measures to prevent forgery/falsification of access records

    - The Company keeps and manages access records to the personal information management system and uses security functions to prevent forgery/falsification of access records.

  • Encryption of personal information

    - - Personal information of a user is protected by a password. Files and transmission data are saved and managed by encryption or file lock function. Important data are protected by a separate security function.

  • Measures against hacking
    • - The Company uses vaccine programs to prevent damage caused by computer viruses. Vaccine programs are regularly updated to prevent privacy infringement by providing a vaccine as soon as a sudden virus is detected.
    • - The Company adopted SSL that can safely transmit personal information on the network using a cryptographic algorithm.
    • - The Company is fully committed to security, using a firewall and vulnerability analysis system for each server to prepare for attacks from the outside like hacking.
    • - Personal information and other data are stored separately.
  • Limiting the number and training of staff involved with personal information
    • - The Company limits the access right to the user’s personal information to persons who perform marketing tasks directly to users, persons involved with personal information management, such as the chief privacy officer and staff, and persons in whom the handling of personal information is inevitable for other business purposes.
    • - Regular in-house and outsourced training are provided for employees handling personal information about learning new security technologies and privacy obligations.
    • - The Company prevents information leakage by a person through the security pledge of all employees obtained at the time of joining the Company. The internal procedures are in place to audit the privacy policy implementation and employees' compliance.
    • - Handover of duties of staff handling personal information is carried out thoroughly while security is properly maintained to clearly determine liability for personal information-related accidents after joining and leaving the Company.
    • - The computer rooms and data storage rooms are set as specially protected areas controlled to control access.

(2) Linked site provision policy

  • The Company may provide users links to websites or resources of other companies and may use products and services developed by third parties.
  • As the Company has no control over the websites, resources, products, and services of third parties, the Company cannot be held responsible for and guarantee the usefulness of their products and services.
  • If you move to a page of a different website by clicking a link provided on the website, the privacy policy of the website is irrelevant to the Company, so we encourage you to review the policies of the websites you are visiting.

(3) Transmission of advertisement

  • The Company does not transmit advertisements for commercial purposes without a user's prior consent.
  • When a user consents to the transmission of emails, such as product information and newsletter, the Company shall ensure that the user can easily recognize the contents in the subject line and body of the email.
    • - The subject line of the email may not be indicated as an advertisement, and the main content of the advertisement may be displayed in the body of the email message.
    • - In the body of the email message, the sender's name, email address, phone number, and the means to opt-out from receiving the email messages must be indicated for a user to easily express his/her intention to refuse the email messages.
  • When sending out an advertisement for commercial purposes through media, like fax or mobile phone SMS, other than emails, the Company takes necessary measures, such as indicating the phrase “advertisement” at the beginning of the transmission per applicable laws.
